My life has taken me down some pretty unexpected paths, and there are plenty of directions a conversation could go. I grew up on a tiny island in the Bahamas that few people ever get the chance to visit. My childhood was shaped by my parents’ choices, though the way I raise my own daughter is very different. Today, my wife and I are raising our 13-year-old in an LGBTQA+ family, navigating the realities of parenting, immigration, and what it means to build a life in a new country. We know that the world can be a very different place for families like ours, especially in countries far less accepting than Canada.

I'm also passionate about mental health, PTSD, and what recovery actually looks like after trauma. I've experienced years of talk therapy, writing therapy, and EMDR, and I know firsthand that surviving something terrible is only the beginning of the story.

Then there's climate change. As someone who lost her home to Hurricane Dorian and eventually left the Bahamas, I have a personal connection to environmental migration and the difficult decisions people face when their home is no longer safe. It's a subject I believe deserves far more attention.

And, in my 40s, I've started a new chapter as a writer, turning one of the hardest experiences of my life into my first book, The Ocean in Our Blood.

If any of these topics sound like a fit for your show, I'd love to hear from you!
